Stargazing with students, teachers, and parents at Mines Elementary School, Quezon City, as part of their Science Camp which aims to develop students’ awareness and appreciation of the beauty of heavenly bodies. Saturn, currently in opposition, presented the best possible view of its rings through a telescope, while the moon was also observed to have dimmed considerably as it enters Earth’s penumbral shadow during the partial lunar eclipse which also occurred during the stargazing activity (April 25-26, 2013). I was just supposed to use my DSLR to capture the partial lunar eclipse, but upon seeing the eastern horizon slowly clearing up, I immediately rushed home to get my scope and then travel to UP Diliman just in time to capture the eclipse during its maximum.

Partial eclipse of the moon tonight, June 4, 2012, 6 pm to 8 pm (eclipse maximum at 7 pm). Still hoping for clear skies… Visible anywhere in the Philippines, just wait for the already-eclipsed moon rising in the east :)

This interview with GMA 7 regarding the May 21, 2012 Partial Solar Eclipse was aired on May 21, 2012 on national television.
