A solar eclipse occurred on May 21, 2012 at around 5:52 am local time, with its maximum and final stages visible in the Philippines. This event was considered by many astronomers as a ‘dry run’ since it occurs 2 weeks prior to the Venus Transit of 2012, and the preparations required to observe both are very much similar.
To image the eclipse, I have used a Sky-Watcher 4-in f/9 refractor on a Kenko NES mount, a Baader 5.0 ND solar filter, and a Canon 450D DSLR.
I also had a wonderful opportunity to be interviewed by a local TV station :)
