Image-Processing with IRIS

5. Aligning the Images

To register (align) images in IRIS, load the first image in the sequence by typing load i1 in the command line interface, then use the mouse to drag a rectangle around the object you wish to align. In this example, I dragged the mouse to enclose the nebula inside the selection rectangle.

Type the command for aligning the images, pregister i i_pregistered 512 5. This command aligns all the images with the generic name i and then create and save a new set with the generic name i_pregistered (you may use different name). The 512 pertains to the size of the alignment area (try changing the value and use 256 for smaller images). The 5 pertains to the total number of images.
